Win A Boobie Buddies Breastfeeding Doll in the June 2010 Giveaway!

Boobie Buddies Ltd -  was founded by Mrs. Pip Wheelwright, a Mum to two breastfed boys now aged 11 and 4. Pip wanted to design a product that could help children become more aware of the natural feeding choices – what better way to do this than through natural play?

Toy dolls are often sold complete with a baby bottle or a dummy – this can be misleading. With the Boobie Buddies breastfeeding dolls, children soon understand how babies can be fed, and more importantly nurtured, while they are breastfed. Hopefully this will help them understand  that breastfeeding is the perfectly  natural way to feed a baby.

Good life habits develop early so this is an ideal toy for toddlers and children. Commercially made to the highest safety specifications, and fully safety tested,  these dolls have several magnets so the ‘baby’ doll can kiss, hold hands and breastfeed with its ‘Mummy’ doll. These ingenious dolls would be an excellent present for your toddler as you welcome your new baby – the older child can play at breastfeeding while you nurse the new baby.

The Boobie Buddies doll sets would also be extremely useful in toy libraries, play groups and similar organisations, they have proved extremely popular in Children’s Centres , these breastfeeding doll sets lend themselves to many settings so ideal in: Home, Medical, Health and Educational Markets. Used by Midwives, NHS, Doulas, Nurseries, NCT, Sure Start, LLL groups and members, Child Minders, Families, and Peer Support Groups, to name a few!

Fantastic idea! – added bonus that they can hold hands and kiss etc as well, making them much more charismatic than a hard-bodied plastic doll that sticks to a magnetic dummy or bottle. Our little girl will love one of these as a gift for when her little brother/sister arrives in just over a week. Lol – perhaps it will help her get over the shock that mummy is only having 1 baby despite having 2 milks! ;o) I’m sure she will love showing the mum & baby set off to all her friends at nursery as well, I also work in a primary school so can lend it for PSHE etc.

Great idea, my two girls often try and put their dollys and teddys on their boobies, so they would have great fun with a boobie buddy

i think this is a great idea. it makes it more natural to children to breastfeed than putting a bottle in baby/dolly’s mouth.

I think these should be for sale in all shops instead of seeing little pink dolls with horrible bottles that can refill

I have just read through the comments – I have to say how saddened I was by the negative comment – How on earth can a dolly that feeds it baby in the normal way be damaging to anyone ? Adult or Child ? I would love one of these for my Breastfeeding support group , It has been running for a matter of months and I am financing all publicity and resources by myself , but when things even out a little I will be buying one of them ! If children grew up seeing and knowing breastfeeding as a normal everyday part of life , our culture and health of the nation would ultimately change for the better – anything that helps bring like minded people together like the pro t-shirts , dollys , and groups can only ever be a good thing !

I’m sure my 2 yr old daughter would love a Boobie Buddy doll, and it would be great at helping her understand more about breastfeeding and prepare her a little more for the arrival of her little sister due in October :)

  • Molly is only 6 months but I don’t want her to have the usual bottle, dummy, crib paraphernalia that comes with mainstream dollies.

I think these are fantastic and even if we don’t win, I’d love to buy one. Such a positive message to be starting young. x

I run a weekly breastfeeding support group as a volunteer (with no funding) and would LOVE a Booby Buddy doll. Many mums bring their toddlers along and they love to watch the babies nursing and will sometimes pretend to nurse whatever is available – teddies, even a soft Nemo! I suspect that many mums would be interested in buying a Boobie Buddy if they see one in the flesh (no pun intended!) – I don’t think many people have seen one before.

I’ve also put a link to this competition on my facebook.

Not sure I want to go up against Sara for this as I’ve read lots of her fabulous articles and I’m sure she can put it to very good use! But I would also love one for local school’s reception class, having seen all the baby bottles in the ‘role play corner’ but not (till now) thought of any alternative prop I could suggest.

What a wonderful thing these dolls are! Great to see the alternative to bottles for children to play with. I’m also a primary school teacher and could see these dolls being of great benefit to children to understand the natural way to feed a child.
