In some areas Breastfeeding Supporters may help run or may be involved in Breastfeeding Support Centres. These groups are a way of meeting Supporters and health professionals who are committed to supporting breastfeeding. They are also a great way to meet other breastfeeding mums! The support groups are run by Mum’s for Mum’s. All breastfeeding peer supporters have been OCN trained in Breastfeeding Peer Support, have breastfed themselves and most likely still are.
There are lots of support groups in Gloucestershire and this website has the times and dates of them.
A Baby Café drop-in centre is generally open once a week and set out with coffee tables, comfy sofas and play areas for accompanying toddlers. All pregnant or breastfeeding mums are welcome to drop in at any time during opening hours. No appointment is necessary and partners, supporters and health professionals are also welcome.
