The Onion’s spoof on Breastfeeding in Public

The Onion is an American news satire organization or as they prefer to call it “America’s Finest News Source”, this video is a spoof breastfeeding advocacy interview. What do you think, is it good for the cause, or bad?

Neither harms nor hurts breast feeders.

In all actuality I wouldn’t mind seeing those web-sites become real! ‘Nurse Out Loud’ pledge would be a great t-shirt, perhaps not the t-shirt they showed though, LMAO. I could see Hathor the Cow Goddess wear the shirt though! LOL It’d make a nice nursing cover with a few adjustments, eh?! LOL

‘Feed Where We Please’ would be a good support site for mothers who may need tips and tricks to NIP. Get some good education going and state the laws and regulations so mother’s feel more empowered when they might perhaps be approached by idiots.

It was a funny, slightly over the top, but not completely, spoof of breast feeders. I liked it, thought it was funny, and now I want that t-shirt so I can make a nursing cover-up, LOL

I liked it. I’m a breastfeeding mother that does not cover in public. I advocate not covering up as well as extended breastfeeding, and I still thought this was funny. It’s nice to laugh about things once in a while.

  • Very tongue in cheek.

I’d say, it’s more like a nod to nursing mothers than a campaign, simply because (and this is the age old problem) those who don’t nurse, have never nursed or who do but are very private will never really understand the feelings and problems that are addressed and will laugh along with those who can relate for different reasons. It’s a double sided sort of joke that suits a lot of people. I guess, in some ways – it could be a bad thing, for those reasons.
