The Breastfeeding Festival Ulverston Saturday 11th to Friday 17th August 2012

The Breastfeeding Festival 2012

Saturday 11th to Friday 17th August 2012
 in Ulverston, Cumbria, UK

The third annual breastfeeding festival gets underway this weekend.  With a packed week of free events lined up, there is guaranteed to be something for everyone.  The whole festival is aimed at promoting and celebrating breastfeeding and is open to everyone to come along.

This year, after listening to feedback from our visitors, we have more going on over the weekend.  We have demonstrations, films and talks all day on the Saturday running alongside the Fair which is in the main hall of the Coronation Hall in Ulverston.  There are over 19 stalls for you to come and look at including milk banking, hypnobirthing, baby clothes, cloth nappies, crafts and much more.

Sunday is another exciting day with a talk & a film and our singing event Pulsing Stars!  Come along and sing a beautiful song about breastfeeding with live musical accompaniment (words on our website if you fancy a practice before hand).

Monday to Friday, events are held at the newly revamped Coach House at Ford Park in Ulverston.  There are two events each day, a morning and an afternoon session with a break for lunch.

We have talks, workshops and film showings, some from renowned specialists in their area via Skype and some in person.

We really have made every effort to provide something for everyone at this years’ festival and, as always, all our events are free to attend.

M’aidez Mama, Support in Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond. Event 2nd August 2012

We are a new voluntary, community enterprise looking to set up support for new and existing parents in the Tameside area, particularly offering doula services to pregnant mums. This would complement existing services run by the NHS, Home Start and the children’s centres to give a comprehensive support service to Tameside families.

We are hosting an event during World Breastfeeding Week,2nd August, to launch our organisation and raise awareness of the services we are looking to provide. This is to be a parenting fair with stalls and information for parents and soon to be parents. The style of the day will be that of an exhibition, with free gifts for the first 30 families through the door and free entry for all. The aim is to increase awareness of the services available to support parents in Tameside to enable partnership working with the various organisations and agencies in the area.
