Amanda is a military wife, mother, has a background as a paediatric/SCBU nurse, and breastfeeding peer supporter and doula (and hopeful future IBCLC).
She says
“As a forces wife and mum, I am in a unique position to develop this access fund/charity for forces families, understanding the unique way of life as only military wives can. So, Op: Doula has been created! Doulas and other maternity providers will be brought on board to provide sliding scale rates for military families and free of charge (with an eventual fund to reimburse providers’ expenses) services with partners who have been deployed, are out of area, have been seriously injured or killed in action. Ultimately, each area/barracks/station will have their own antenatal education, homebirth groups, infant feeding support groups, etc. Op: Doula will be available to British forces families globally and any foreign forces families posted in the UK.
