“They really don’t like it in McDonalds when you bring your own food in.”

A YOUNG mum who was asked to leave a McDonald’s for breastfeeding returned with six pals – who all joined in.

The seven friends nursed their babies in protest and won an apology from the fast-food giant.

Maddie Reynolds, 27, said: “We all sat round a table right by the counter. One of us took a photo and we caused a bit of a stir.”

The bust-up started when the manager confronted Maddie as she fed ten-week-old daughter Sophie in a quiet corner.
Maddie said: “I was asked to stop but I refused because she was hungry. He asked me to leave but I carried on.

“He stood and watched me for a few minutes and then went away.

“I had a proper maternity top on so no one could see anything. I felt so humiliated, but I knew I wasn’t doing anything wrong.”

Nursery nurse Maddie, of Bournemouth, Dorset, returned home from the diner, set in an Asda supermarket, and told her friends what had happened.

She said: “We all decided on the protest. We walked in to McDonald’s together. We began breastfeeding our babies all at the same time to make a point.

“Someone told a manager but he just muttered.”

Pal Catherine Davis, 19, who took her seven-week-old daughter Amelia along, said: “It’s the most natural thing to feed your baby. Everyone says breast is best. It’s fine as long as you are discreet.”

Last night McDonald’s spokes-woman Alison Purves said: “The manager was not following company policy. We’re very disappointed.

“If a customer expressed discomfort about breastfeeding we would encourage them to move rather than the mum. We don’t want to make mums feel they have to hide away.”

  • Brilliant! The original happy meals! Well done for putting your babies’ needs first, and helping to normalise the normal way of feeding a baby human! You all look beautiful x
