“Evil Baby Milk” funny translation

Evil Baby Milk

I found this by accident and think it is so funny – even better, the actual dimensions of the image I stole from the website are 666 x 666 pixels!

My french is pretty limited, I can tell you my aunt is up a tree probably but I wonder if the Eviel people thought about how this would work translated into English. Maybe they have an undercover lactivist working for them!

This picture did make me laugh, but when I ‘liked’ it on Facebook some of my friends got quite upset. I understand that breastfeeding can be a very emotive issue, I myself get very upset when I think others are being critical of my little one’s extended nursing but should my friends understand that this is just a reflection of my sense of humour (and if they are going to be friends on facebook accept that they will see this sort of thing from time to time) or do they have a point? Is a group of breastfeeding mums laughing at a bottle of formula called Evil, well evil? Are we hurting the people we should be reaching out to or should we all just get thicker skins?

Um, they probably didn’t think what it would look like in English, because, well, they’re French and so why would they care what the Anglos think? I’m an avid breastfeeder and somewhat of a lactivist, and while I have considered formula companies and their product “evil” sometimes (LOL!), but it kinda looks ignorant to comment on a French word and see “Evil” in it, especially when the word means, “awake” or “enlightened”. Of course, the name was picked to make the artificial milk look like a good buy, which, it is not.
