Some cushions or pillows, last year it was a nice room and comfy sofas but I don't remember there being any cushions to help support new babies, although I had a toddler that didn't need them so they might have been there. Samples of nipple cream, magazines for mum to read and biscuits.

Sounds like it will be lovely :) Some books, toys or colouring supplies to help to keep older siblings amused whilst mum is feeding would probably be very helpful.

Do you know that 42 Earlham Street is famous in feminist history as the address of the London Womens Liberation movement through the late 1970s? This is just too funny.... we had a big office on the first floor, with meeting rooms, bookshop, the Gestetner for producing the weekly newsletter - and the baby care corner.

I've never worn my hair up, breastfeeding or otherwise and my hair is much longer than hers (although not as well brushed). There were occasions where I probably looked similarly underdressed while feeding a newborn. I see no reason to take issue with a breastfeeding mum dressing overtly sexually - if that top was done up and she was bottle feeding a baby, would it be so bad?

I mean, who says a breastfeeding mum can't be sexy too? I completely disagree with the idea that breasts aren't sexual. My breasts ARE sexual. They are dual-purpose (like most of my body) and I believe their sexuality is all about context and audience. This lady's body language, with boobs turned towards the camera makes it seem exhibitionist, but in a different context she could look proud, or just self-assured.

Regardless of whether I like the look, breastfeeding isn't a lifestyle choice, about being demure or even tasteful... Can you tell I really feel I should be OK with this??

I'm uncomfortable with it against my best logic. Pedantically, unless you have a very strong core, there is no way you could breastfeed a baby of that size in that position for any length of time so it just looks wrong. She presents herself in a very sexually aggressive way and because the pose is unnatural too, it feels as if the baby is just being used as a rather inappropriate prop.

I've already contributed, but have thought of another way to keep warm - thermal vests - really stretchy, so can be pulled down when feeding. Can be bought fairly cheaply from Matalan or supermarket. Also wash well and can be shoved in the tumble dryer without shrinking.

my daughter was exclusively bfed until 8 months.no allergies or refusing food, but i skipped jar food and went straight to normal finger food.unfortunately for my wallet she can eat all day long!
i know mothers who started weaning at 4 months and their kids didn't want anything else bc they were on mashed food for long time (8-9 months to introduce first finger foods).
i know other examples who would confirm/disapprove whatever it is said. i think it all depends from child to child.for me the child is ready for other food than milk when they can sit straight (not sit up) - stiff oesophagus, so for some kids it'll be 4,for others even 12 months.

This photo goes beyond showing the bond between a mother and child in a dignified way.... I believe it could encourage mens lust and other unhelpful emotions to be associated with this natural act, unfortunately there is a baby involved in this sexualised image. Also, in my experience working Lait d'amour (promoting breastfeeding) I have come across some perverted comments which I have reported. Further research (and a man on ebay and some on facebook) led me to find out there is dark (underground parts of the internet) where there are perves sharing breastfeeding images and I found out its actually a sexual fetish, as is shoes, tights etc, its shocking to learn this and I have read some very sick posts from men on porn forums, even comments about the baby in the photos! If you take a closer look at this image (enlarge it) you will see very clearly the ladies other breast in detail, it is posed to get as much sexualality out of it as possible. Furthermore, she is standing up and has her mouth slightly open, which is typical to incite lust.

i know this was from years ago but i still want to make my say. i LOVE breast feeding and unfortunately I came across many of the "cons" this time around as my daughter and I didnt get off to the best start but now after 8 weeks of ouchies antibiotics and every random internet theory out there and many a pain killer were fab. for someone to say it should be banned has really REALLY upset me, I hate the looks and the comments i sometimes get for feeding my daughter but i love how some people also priase me for it, as for the "another human sucking on your breasts" well.... lets just not get in to that one shall we, (talk about one hell of a boring sounding sex life HA)

my boyfriend doesn't think hes missing out as he does help when i'm feeding, he gets me drinks and makes me comfortable and sits next to us and talks to the baby and me while i'm feeding her, he also uses that time to play or do special daddy daughter time with our eldest and like other mums have mentioned hes bonding with our baby in different ways, like baths and massage and storys and songs and cuddles... its possible to have skin to skin without boobs involved and that is what he does, he gets her off to sleep a lot better than i do just with a bit of skin on skin, and NO its not affecting our sex life. hes a bit of a boob man but hes well aware when im no longer feeding the baby the boobs will be fair game and he finds it rather lovely that they are getting used for their actual purpose. After all the pain (my own fault. i got a bad latch and position and didnt ask for help etc not that there is much over in my town but what ever) he says regually hes very proud of how i went through it all and we came out the other side. i can not believe pampers AND netmums are saying this on their websites. yes list pros and cons for BOTH but really.... could they make it any more obvious they are sponsored by cow and gate?
