Newtown Breastfeeding Support Group is a team of 8 mums who have all breastfed or are currently breastfeeding their children and who have recently qualified as Breastfeeding Peer Counsellors with La Leche League. They offer support and information to pregnant ladies, new mums, long-term breastfeeding women or anyone interested in the subject.

Newtown Breastfeeding Support Group will be launching its brand new drop-in support sessions on Thursday 8th September 2011 from 11am – 1pm at the Wesley Methodist Church, Back Lane, Newtown. Everyone is welcome – you don’t need to have a breastfeeding problem to come along, just pop in for a cup of tea and a chat! Pregnant ladies are very welcome too as are mums’ older children.

To provide support and accurate, up-to-date information to pregnant ladies, new mums, breastfeeding women or anyone interested in the subject.
We also want to raise awareness on the importance of breastfeeding and what a wonderful experience it can be.
We hope to help people to see that breastfeeding is normal and natural and to encourage shops and businesses in the local area to support breastfeeding mums by taking part in the ‘Breastfeeding Welcome Scheme’ run by the Welsh Assembly Government.

Newtown Breastfeeding Support Group has a range of breast pumps and books for loan and will soon be launching the sale of pregnancy and breastfeeding bras.
