“Dear Aunty Lactivist
Hi there! I was wondering if anyone here has experienced some sort of post weaning blues?
My LO stopped feeding abruptly and I’ve been so down since. It’s pushing two months mow and i can’t seem to feel better! X”
What can we do to help this Mum?

Hi dear, good job nursing. I think we all feel that somehow, all in different ways and intensity, you are not alone! Try to have some cuddling and snuggling time, stay in bed together, your relationship just went into a different stage now. Enjoy every moment so you don’t feel like you missed something. Have some fish oil capsules (purified, wild fish) they help a great deal, read, see other moms that have something in common with you, go to your local la leche meeting (their web site is http://www.llli.org) they are a life saver and most of all take care of yourself. sending love

hi, yes I experienced this also with dd1. The abrupt change in hormone levels can lead to symptoms of depression. Mine lasted a couple of months. As a rmn I would advise you to monitor it and if it starts to impact on your life more than you can manage, go and see your gp asap. definately seek help if you are getting negative or suicidal/self harm thoughts xx
